Wilem and Tineka Vos, first time horse breeders, from Ontario Canada, couldn’t believe their eyes. At 5.30am on April 29 they went out to the barn to find a filly and colt delivered by their mare, Bonnie.
The twins are Clydesdale/Hackney crosses and the latest report is that mum and foals are strong and healthy. The Vos family have called the colt Lucky and the filly Charm (get it).
Twin foals are very rare with only a 1 in 10,000 chance of a mare carrying twins full term. Due to the extreme danger to the mare one of the foals is usually aborted.
